Asrology Vs. Astronomy
Astrology is a group of systems, traditions, and beliefs which hold that the relative positions of celestial bodies and related details can provide information about personality, human affairs, and other terrestrial matters. The zodiac is a band in the sky around the earth that consists of twelve constellations. The yearly path of the sun seems to follow in relation to the stars. The twelve constellations are in this order: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces. In astronomy, the zodiac is the region of the sky close to the circle on which the orbital plane of our solar system intersects the celestial sphere. It includes the ecliptic, the apparent path of the sun across the sky. It extends in width about nine degrees on either side. It represents the path of the principal planests, the moon, and the sun.

Characteristics of each sign

Your zodiac sign depends on when you were born. Each sign begins in a certain month and ends somewhere in the following month. The signs are also grouped into four different elements: fire, earth, air and water. There are three modalities: cardinal, fixed, and mutable. Each sign is ruled by a planet, is either masculine, or feminine, posative or negative, and has their own symbol. Every sign in the zodiac is different and has their own posative and negative traits that can help a person learn more about themselves.

Astromony of the Zodiac

  • Because the Earth rotates on its axis, and revolves around the sun, it appears that the sun is moving eastward against the background of the zodiac.
  • The path in the sky in which the zodiac falles is called The Plane of the Ecliptic.
  • The zodiac lies within, above, or below 8 or 9 degrees of the ecliptic.
  • At some point in time the zodic was formalized into twelve different 30 degree portions.
  • The stars move very slowly through processtion. Because of this, the zodiac has shifted 28 degrees (almost a whole sign), and are no longer in the same postion they were when the zodiac was first formalized.
  • There are actually 13 constellations located in the zodiac, bit only 12 are used for astrology.
  • The thirteenth constellation is called Ophiuchus, and lies between Scorpio anbd Sagittarius.
